List of batters with most T20 centuries in winning causes
Jos Buttler pulled off an absolute heist for Rajasthan Royals in Match 31 of the 2024 Indian Premier League (IPL) against Kolkata Knight Riders. He made a jaw-dropping acceleration after a rusty start as RR chased down 224. This was his eighth T20 hundred and all of them have come in winning causes. Here are the batters with the most match-winning T20 centuries.
Jos Buttler - 8 centuries
Buttler now has the joint-second-most T20 tons in winning causes. While seven of his hundreds have come in the IPL, his other ton was recorded against Sri Lanka in the group-stage match of the 2021 ICC T20 World Cup. The England skipper made an unbeaten 101* in that duel. Notably, each of the Englishman's tons have come while opening the innings.
List of Buttler's IPL centuries
Buttler's maiden IPL ton came against SRH in 2021 as he made a 61-ball 124. Four of his tons came in 2022 as he made 116, 106*, 103, and 100 against DC, RCB, KKR, and MI, respectively. In the ongoing season, he made an unbeaten 100 versus RCB days before his 107* against KKR.
Babar Azam - 8 centuries
Buttler shares the second spot with Pakistan's Babar Azam, whose eight of the 11 T20 tons have come in wins. All three of his T20I tons have resulted in Pakistan's victories. He also owns three match-winning hundreds in England's premier T20 competition - the T20 Blast. Babar has one match-winning hundred apiece in the Pakistan Super League and the Lanka Premier League.
Chris Gayle - 22 centuries
Chris Gayle tops this list as 16 of his 22 T20 tons have come in triumphs. All six of his IPL tons have resulted in victories. He has three hundreds in the Caribbean Premier League in this regard. Gayle owns four match-winning centuries in the Bangladesh Premier League. The southpaw has one such ton apiece in T20Is, BBL, and the Ram Slam T20 Challenge.
