IPL: Here are batters with 600+ runs in multiple seasons
Virat Kohli brought out his A game against Punjab Kings in Match 58 of the Indian Premier League 2024 season. The Royal Challengers Bengaluru opener scored a 47-ball 92 as his side claimed a 60-run triumph after posting 241/7. During his stay, Kohli became the first batter to accomplish 600 runs this season. Here are the batters with 600+ runs in multiple IPL seasons.
KL Rahul: 4 seasons
KL Rahul sits at the top of this list for scoring 600-plus runs in a season most times. His breakthrough season was in 2018 when he scored 659 runs. Rahul won the Orange Cap for scoring 670 runs in the 2020 competition. The current Lucknow Super Giants captain garnered 626 and 616 runs in 2021 and 2022, respectively.
Virat Kohli - 4 seasons
Kohli has now raced to 634 runs in the ongoing season. Like Rahul, he also now owns 600-plus runs in four different seasons. Notably, he tallied exactly 634 runs in 2013 as well. He slammed 973 runs in 2016, the highest-ever by a batter in an IPL season. His tally included four tons. Last year, the batting talisman garnered 639 runs.
Chris Gayle - 3 seasons
Universe Boss Chris Gayle breached the 600-run mark in three seasons. Playing for RCB, he bagged the Orange Cap in 2011 and 2012 for scoring 608 and 733 runs, respectively. In 2013, he finished as the second-highest run-getter with 708 runs. Gayle's 175* against the now-defunct Rising Pune Super Giant in 2013 is still the highest individual score in T20 cricket.
David Warner - 3 seasons
Australia's David Warner has been one of the most consistent run-getters in IPL history. He is also the only batter to have clinched the Orange Cap thrice. The southpaw was the highest run-getter of IPL 2017 and 2019 for scoring 641 and 692 runs, respectively. His tally of 848 runs in 2016 was only second to Kohli's 973.
Faf du Plessis - 2 seasons
The current RCB skipper Faf du Plessis is the only other batter to hammer 600-plus runs in multiple IPL seasons. Playing for Chennai Super Kings, he hammered 633 runs in IPL 2021. He tally was only second to his opening partner Ruturaj Gaikwad, who bagged the Orange Cap for scoring 635 runs. The RCB captain made 730 runs in the preceding season.
