Ranked 15th, the defending champions Leicester City pulled out their fifth win matches after they defeated West Ham United 1-0. Islam Slimani's header in the 20th minute gave the Foxes their second win in the last 10 matches.
Pogba's 86th minute goal wins it for Manchester United
Manchester City's winning run was saved by a late goal from Paul Pogba in the 86th minute against Middlesbrough. The Boro took a lead in the 67th minute after a goal-less first half. Anthony Martial scored the equalizer in the 85th minute before Paul Pogba's header in the very next minute to give a winning end to the year at Old Trafford.
City's winning run halted by Liverpool
Liverpool ended the year finishing second on the points table after registering a 1-0 win over third placed Manchester City. The Reds took a 8th minute lead with a clinical header from Dutchman Georginio Wijnaldum. Pep Guardiola's men tried to create chances in the second half but Liverpool had a plan for counter attack.
Hull City, Everton match ends in a 2-2 draw
A late header from Ross Barkley in the 84th minute denied Hull City a win at the KCOM Stadium in Hull. Everton's Michael Dawson and Robert Snodgrass scored a goal each, with their goalkeeper David Marshall scoring a self goal in the first-half stoppage time.
