Premier League: Records broken during second half of match-day 8
Last night, we witnessed high-profile matches where Chelsea, Arsenal, Liverpool and Manchester City were out to play their eighth Premier League matches of this season. Arsenal thrashed Fulham 5-1 at their home and Chelsea put three past Southampton to secure three points each. However, the most anticipated fixture between leaders of the table Manchester City and Liverpool ended goalless. Here are the records broken.
Arsenal win with an emphatic display of football
Arsenal's win against Fulham saw them winning nine matches in a row, the most they have won consecutively since 2015. Fulham have conceded 21 goals already, and are the only Premier League club to have no clean sheets this season. Arsenal have now secured a win in four away matches out of five in the league, same as their previous 19 away fixtures.
Chelsea have been the most consistent team this season
Chelsea have found a new life under Sarri as they continued their unbeaten streak by defeating Southampton 3-0. Hazard, who netted the first goal in, has played against Southampton 15 times and has been involved in 11 goals in those matches for Chelsea. In the last three seasons, Southampton have managed to secure only 7 points from 26 league matches against EPL's 'Big Six'.
The table-toppers drew the most anticipated match last night
Liverpool last lost to Manchester City at Anfield back in 2003, and are currently unbeaten in the Premier League against City in 18 matches. Out of the last eight encounters between Guardiola and Klopp, Pep has one just a single match. Liverpool now have 20 points from eight games, equalling their tally of the 1996-97 and 2008-09 seasons.
