Premier League 2019-20: Five managers to watch out for
The Premier League 2019-20 season is all set to start from August 9 onwards. Champion League winners Liverpool host promoted Norwich City at Anfield in the season opener. This season will, once again, be dictated by the tactics of highly influential managers. From Pep Guardiola to Jurgen Klopp, here are five managers to watch out for in 2019-20.
The new kid on the block: Nuno Espírito Santo
Nuno Espírito Santo was a revelation in EPL last season. The Wolves manager developed an identity for his side, who played their skins out and got brilliant results against top sides. Wolves finished seventh. His side thrives in the shift between attack and defense. At home, Wolves are extremely dangerous. Can Nuno continue to help Wolves outwit the big guns?
The Blues Legend: Frank Lampard
Former Chelsea hero Frank Lampard replaced Maurizio Sarri, who left for Juventus after just one season. Lampard comes in at a crunch situation, as the Blues have been handed a two-window transfer ban by FIFA. Lampard could be key here. He will promote youngsters and give them the freedom to excel. He needs to implement his vision from the word go.
The GOAT among managers: Pep Guardiola
Pep Guardiola will be eyeing a hat-trick of the Premier League titles. The Manchester City boss was flawless in the previous two seasons and amassed 100 and 98 points respectively to win the trophy. Pep has a strong squad at his disposal and one expects City to dominate the show once again. Although, he will be wary of Liverpool's threat.
The man with a plan: Jurgen Klopp
Champions League winners Liverpool had a defining 2018-19 season. They fought neck-to-neck with City for the EPL title, which was decided in the last game-week. Expect Jurgen Klopp to come out with his head high this term. His intensity and high-pressing game will, once again, be on offer. Liverpool have a settled side and Klopp will aim for the domestic prize this time.
The fighter: Ole Gunnar Solskjaer
Manchester United manager Ole Gunnar Solskjaer took over the reigns in December 2018 and enjoyed a fine start, but it quickly dissipated. The club's main focus will be to get the players ready for the upcoming season. Ole's aim is to ensure the players are mentally stronger and fitter to survive a challenging season ahead. He will target Champions League football in 2019-20 season.
