Premier League, Liverpool vs Manchester City: Preview, Dream11 and more
High-flying Liverpool are set to host champions Manchester City in gameweek 12 of the Premier League on Sunday. The Reds are yet to lose a match this season and take on City, who are six points behind. It's expected to be a high-octane clash at Anfield with nothing much to separate the two teams. Here's the complete match preview.
Liverpool vs City: Team news and selection
City will be without goal-keeper Ederson, who is nursing a muscle injury. He will be replaced by second-choice keeper Claudio Bravo. Senior player David Silva is set to miss out as well. For Liverpool, skipper Jordan Henderson and central defender Virgil van Dijk, who missed training earlier in the week, are available. The likes of Joel Matip, Nathaniel Clyne and Xherdan Shaqiri remain out.
What did the managers say ahead of the clash?
"From a sport's point of view this rivalry is getting bigger and bigger. Thank god there is a rivalry because it means we are pretty good," said Liverpool manager Jurgen Klopp. "I just want my team to fight to the end. Liverpool have lost one game last season, none this season, so you cannot believe that they will lose many," said Pep Guardiola.
Dream11: Mane and Sterling lead a powerful side on offer
Alisson starts in goal in this Dream11 side. Kyle Walker and Andrew Robertson are the full-backs. Virgil van Dijk and John Stones fill in as the central defenders. Georginio Wijnaldum, Ikay Gundogan and Kevin de Bruyne take up the mid-field places. Mohamed Salah offers width alongside Sadio Mane (captain). The versatile Raheem Sterling fits in as the main forward and is the vice-captain.
Predicted winners, TV listing and timing
Liverpool will go into the match as the favorites. They have a strong record at home and the team looks confident. We feel they will pip City and open a nine-point gap atop. The match will be telecast live on the Star Sports Network. It can be streamed live on Hotstar (paid subscription). The match is scheduled for a 10:00 PM IST start.
