#GamingBytes: Pokemon Go's 'Halloween' surprise leaked
What's the story
Pokemon Go developer, Niantic is yet to announce its Halloween themed event, but a recent data leak suggests that it too will capitalize on the event's festivities.
The items expected to come to the event include a Special Research task, ghost and dark type Pokemon spawns, new quests and clothing items.
Notably, this marks the first Special Research task for non-mythical Pokemon.
Spiritbomb
The Pokemon spirit of Halloween
Courtesy of a serial Pokemon Go leaker, we now know that the Special Research task will be centered around Spiritbomb, an unusual Ghost/Dark type Pokemon.
One of the parts of the task will involve capturing 108 Pokemon.
This is a reference to the 108 souls that apparently make up Spiritbomb.
Notably, the process seems much simpler in Pokemon Go, than the main Pokemon games.
Other changes
Other Halloween themed changes coming to Pokemon
The Halloween event will also let gamers cosplay as Gengar, the Poison and Ghost-type Pokemon, through a new hat, backpack, shirt, and other avatar items.
Players will also be rewarded for capturing now abundantly available Ghost and Dark-type Pokemon.
Though no other Pokemon are appearing, the spooky Gen 4 Pokemon available are Stunky, Drifblim and the evolved forms of Mismagius, Weavile, and Dusknoir.
Information
How soon will the Halloween event become playable?
Although there has been no official news from the developer, the event is expected to go live soon since the Mewtwo legendary raids are scheduled to end and the Gen 4 legendary Pokemon, Giratina's release has been teased.
