All about the upcoming game
The upcoming game is titled 'Harry Potter: Wizards Unite'. The AR game was aiming to release towards the end of 2018 but has now officially been pushed back to 2019. According to the official press release, players are expected to unravel a global mystery by exploring real-world surroundings, casting spells as well as encountering iconic characters and fantastic beasts from the Harry Potter universe.
What are players expected to do in-game?
Players will start as a member of the new Statute of Secrecy Task Force, marking a partnership between the International Confederation of Wizards and the Ministry of Magic. They will have to develop lightning fast wand skills and reflexes, be proficient in casting advanced spells and hone the ability to sniff out and detect the faintest trace of magical disorder from far away.
What does the trailer show us?
The trailer shows a rogue Snitch (the small golden ball from Harry Potter's Quidditch) in an alley. A witch appears and casts an 'Immobulus' spell. She then puts a poster on the wall, warning wizards and witches of the Calamity, an event where magical things cross over to the Muggle (human) world. She then magically disappears.
How we expect the game to work?
Fans of Pokemon Go must know how augmented reality works. However, for those unaware, you will play the game on your mobiles or tablets, while moving around in the real world. The augmented reality will show you the game's version of reality where you will likely meet rogue magical elements, which you will have to bring under control using spells before Muggles notice them.
