Pogba desperate to leave Manchester for Barcelona: Reports
The speculation surrounding Frenchman Paul Pogba and Premier League club Manchester United has taken a new turn. According to a report in the Daily Mail, it has been learnt that the mid-fielder wants to leave the club and join Spanish champions Barcelona. Pogba wants to end the fractured terms with manager Jose Mourinho. Here is more on the same.
Pogba tells United players and management about desire to leave
Report states that Pogba has told both his team members and the club management that he is seeking a new pasture in Spain. The 25-year-old France mid-fielder is also believed to have sent a text message to United Chief, Ed Woodward, and revealed his intentions. He is keen to play with Lionel Messi and former Juventus team mate Arturo Vidal at the Camp Nou.
United adamant to hold on to their star player
Earlier reports stated that Barca had made an offer of £46 million for Pogba. The offer also included two players; defender Mina and mid-fielder Andre Gomes. But the Old Trafford club rejected the offer. With the transfer window set to shut down on Thursday, United are in no mood to let their star player leave at this crucial juncture.
Issues with Jose the problem for the Frenchman
He had joined United two seasons earlier in a then world record £89 million deal. But relations with manager Jose Mourinho hit a new low, last term, with the player and the coach not seeing each other eye to eye. Pogba returned to training at Carrington on Monday after a successful World Cup where he helped France bag the trophy.
What's the next scenario?
This move isn't going to materialize as of now. United are already busy in acquiring a defender with some big names linked. They won't shift their attention towards a new issue here. United are in action on Saturday in their Premier League opener against Leicester City at Old Trafford. Pogba is expected to start in a three-man midfield in a 4-3-3 formation.
