While IPL has helped these players to make a name, there are others for whom IPL was a disaster.
We list 5 stars who played in IPL, but have now been forgotten.

Australian batsman Damien Martyn
Former Australian cricketer Damien Martyn, who retired from international cricket in 2006, was a surprise pick during 2010 IPL auctions.
Rajasthan Royals bought the middle order batsman for $100,000 and a lot was expected from him.
However, he made just 1 IPL appearance scoring 19 runs off 24 balls at a strike rate of 79.17.

Famous cricket commentator Aakash Chopra
Aakash Chopra is well known for his commentary, but did you know the former India opener played in IPL?
Chopra was a part of the KKR squad for the first two seasons and in 2011 he was signed by Rajasthan Royals.
Chopra's IPL career has been forgotten because he scored just 53 runs at an average of 8.33 and a strike rate of 74.64.

The prince of domestic cricket Wasim Jaffer
Wasim Jaffer made a name for himself by scoring a triple-century in his second first-class game.
He is one of the greats of Indian domestic cricket.
Despite his heroics in first-class cricket, Jaffer couldn't convert that success in the IPL.
He played in 2 seasons for RCB, scoring just 130 at an average of 16.25 and a strike rate of 107.43.

West Indian great Shivnarine Chanderpaul
West Indians are well known for their ability to excel in T20s.
Most of them are globetrotters playing franchise cricket. Shivnarine Chanderpaul is not among them.
He may be the second West Indian to cross 10,000 runs in Test cricket but his only season with RCB in 2008 saw him score 25 runs at an average of 8.33 and a strike rate of 80.64.

The best Sri Lankan pace bowler Chaminda Vaas
Lanka legend Chaminda Vaas was unplayable during his prime.
He holds the record for best bowling figures in ODI and is the only bowler to claim an 8 wicket haul in ODIs.
The Deccan Charges signed the left arm-seamer in 2008 and despite some good bowling performances he faded into oblivion.
Vaas bagged 18 wickets in 13 matches at an average of 19.72.
