The 2024 Men's ICC T20 World Cup will be underway on June 1 in the Caribbean and USA. India's campaign will be led by Rohit Sharma for the second successive edition. He made his mark in the inaugral edition (2007) and has been their mainstay batter ever since. Here are the players to have featured in most T20 World Cup matches.
Rohit Sharma: 39 matches
The inaugural T20 World Cup in 2007 marked Rohit's debut in the format. He straightaway fired with match-winning knocks. Rohit has played in each of India's T20 World Cup campaigns so far - 2007, 2009, 2010, 2012, 2014, 2016, 2021, and 2022. Rohit has featured in 39 matches, the most by a player in the tournament. He owns 963 runs at 34.39.
Shakib Al Hasan: 36 matches
Bangladesh's Shakib Al Hasan is among the best spin-bowling all-rounders across formats. He remains the only other player to have played more than 35 matches (36) in the T20 World Cup. Notably, Shakib 742 runs at 23.94 with the bat and 47 wickets at 18.64 with the ball. He is the only bowler with over 40 wickets in the tournament.
Tillakaratne Dilshan: 35 matches
Sri Lanka's Tillakaratne Dilshan made his name as a destructive opener in the late 2000s. He starred for the Lankans in the 2009 T20 World Cup where they reached the final. Dilshan, who grabbed eyeballs with his famous 'Dilscoop' shot, smacked 317 runs at a strike rate of 144.74. Overall, in 35 T20 World Cup matches, he scored 897 runs at 30.93.
