Call of Duty: Black Ops 4 was one of the biggest releases of 2018, mostly for introducing the Battle Royale mode titled Blackout, for the first time to the franchise. Currently, it is one of the most polished Battle Royale experiences in terms of weapons and gameplay. Much to the joy of eager gamers, Blackout is getting a free trial on PC and consoles.
For limited time, gamers can play Blackout for free
For gamers who wish to try out the Blackout experience to see if the hype was all true, then you can access the game from January 17 to January 24. Treyarch made the announcement itself. During this time, if your console or PC supports the game, you can obtain and play Blackout Battle Royale and it will not cost you anything.
Multiplayer and Zombie mode will not be accessible for free
While Blackout will be free for a trial period, the other main modes of Call of Duty: Black Ops 4, namely the multiplayer and the acclaimed Zombie mode will still have to be purchased for both PC and console.
Free trials might convince gamers to buy CoD
There are multiple games in the Battle Royale genre, like PUBG, Fortnite. Famously, the latter is free to play. Additionally, this year Battlefield V is launching its own take, Firestorm. With so many options, gamers might be hesitant to shell out money initially. The free trial will allow gamers to test out the game and purchase it only if they enjoy the gameplay.
Other changes coming for CoD gamers
Apart from the free trial period for Blackout, CoD fans will be glad to know that Treyarch has dropped a patch for consoles, which changes the looting interface. PS4 gamers have now received new Elixirs and Gauntlets within the game.
