Indian cricket team captain Virat Kohli smashed his way into the record books after scoring a fantastic century against Australia in the ongoing second Test at the new Perth Stadium. Kohli scored 123 runs in India's first innings. The 30-year-old shared a 50-run stand with Hanuma Vihari in the morning session on Sunday. Here are the records scripted by Kohli.

Kohli registered his 34th international ton as skipper to go past former South Africa legend Graeme Smith (33). The Indian batsman now requires 7 more tons to equal former Australian skipper Ricky Ponting (41). This was Kohli's 12th ton against Australia across formats. He equalled the likes of Brian Lara and Sir Jack Hobbs. He is only behind Sachin Tendulkar (20).

Kohli now has 4 centuries against Australia at their own backyard. He equalled former West Indies star Clive Lloyd for most number of centuries by visiting captains in Tests in Australia This was Kohli's 25th career Test ton. He also scored his 11th century in 2018. Kohli has taken just 127 innings to reach 25 Test centuries. Only the legendary Sir Don Bradman (68) took fewer innings to get to the special feat, The Indian skipper became only the first Asian batsman to score a hundred in each South Africa, England and Australia in the same year in Tests.
Kohli breaks Kallis and Sachin's records
Kohli has taken the least innings (86) to get to 5,000 Test runs, while batting at number four position. He broke the record held by former South African all-rounder Jacques Kallis (87). Kohli also took the fewest innings to amass 7,000 international runs batting at number four position (133). He broke the record held by Sachin (146).

Kohli has 1,223 runs in Test cricket this year. He averages a whopping 58.23. The experienced batsman also scored his 5th Test ton in 2018. He is the only batsman to have more than 1,000 runs this calendar year in both Tests and ODIs.
