Man City manager Pep Guardiola coy on future
Manchester City manager Pep Guardiola has chosen to remain away from any sort of contract talks when asked by the media. The former Barcelona and Bayern Munich manager had signed a three-year deal when he arrived here last season. The manager helped City to the double this season and will be in the final year of his contract in 2018-19.
Pep to talk to club next season
The manager insisted that he has one year left in his contract and will only talk to the club next season. He added that the owners are his friends and there is time to talk fluently about what is best regarding the future. The Spaniard looks focused in seeing off the season well. He has already started preparing for next season.
What could be in store?
Guardiola left Bayern after his contract finished at the end of a three-year spell. He failed to win the Champions League with the German club after winning the same twice earlier with Barca. A lot depends on UCL success in order for him to stay here at City. If he fails to land the trophy next season, he might well leave the Etihad.
Pep could be seeking international football
When Pep had arrived to the club, it was a well known feeling that he won't stay here for a long time. What he has already achieved with City this season is remarkable. He had earlier stated that he wants to manage a team at international level. If he decides to do the same, then an opportunity with Spain could arise in 2019.
Big world events in the bag
The European Championships will be held in 2020 followed by the 2022 FIFA World Cup. Guardiola could use this as his next big challenge and win the world's biggest laurels. 2019 will be a year when a big decision could be expected from him.
