PCB embarrassed in compensation case against BCCI
The Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) has found itself in an embarrassing position regarding a compensation case filed against BCCI. The BCCI and the PCB had signed an MOU to play six bilateral series between 2015 and 2023. Although the PCB charged the BCCI with not honoring the MOU, former PCB chairman Shaharyar Khan told the media that the PCB had a weak case.
Details of the compensation case against BCCI
Shaharyar Khan said that the MOU contained a clause which said that all series between Pakistan and India would be subject to government clearance. This clause effectively destroys Pakistan's case as the BCCI has constantly maintained that it couldn't play Pakistan without government clearance. Ironically, it was during Khan's tenure as PCB chairman, that the PCB filed a $70 million compensation case against BCCI.

"Because there is written (in the MoU) that the series will be held with the approval of both the governments (India and Pakistan), and they (BCCI) can cite that and say we can't come as our government is not giving us the NoC," said Khan.
PCB faces further embarrassment after pressurizing Khan
Soon after Khan's statement to the media, the PCB pressurized the former chairman into changing his stance. Khan gave into the pressure and gave a signed statement completely denying his comments to the media about the integrity of the PCB's case against BCCI. However, the PCB faced further embarrassment when TV channels aired and uploaded video footage of Khan making the comments.
Khan's revised statement after PCB pressure
"How could I say such a thing when, in fact, as chairman and with the approval of the PCB's Board of Governors, I authorised preparation of a case...The media must not distort my remarks," said Khan in his revised statement.
