#IndiaInEngland: Rahul Dravid heaps praise on Rishabh Pant
Delhi youngster Rishabh Pant has continued to show his mettle in 2018. His efforts paid off as he was selected for the upcoming Test series against England. The wicket-keeper batsman is a part of the 18-member squad alongside Dinesh Karthik. Now, India's U-19 coach Rahul Dravid has backed Pant to come good and feels his temperament and skills make him a different player.
What does Dravid feel about the dashing youngster?
Dravid said that Pant is always going to be an attacking player, but since Test cricket is different, he will need to read the situation better to excel in the format. The former India skipper hopes that Pant would become mature, after being a part of the national Test side. He feels that Pant has shown, at times, he can bat differently.
Aggressive Pant has been in solid form in 2018
Pant is known to be a real aggressive player. He bats up the order in the Indian Premier League and also for Delhi in the Ranji Trophy. The youngster had an amazing IPL 2018 where he broke the shackles to score 684 runs in 14 games which included five fifties and a ton. He hit five fifties recently for India A.
Pant will need to learn from the seniors
Rishabh Pant will need to learn how to replicate his form with the red ball. The selectors have done the right thing by picking him for the Tests against England as rubbing shoulders with senior players will help him massively. Although DK is likely to be a part of XI, Pant knows if he keeps performing the place could be his in near future.
Pant will need to adapt to demands of Test cricket
The red ball is a different game altogether and Pant will have to adapt to the demands of Test cricket. He has 1,744 runs in First Class and a healthy average of 50+. Pant is being groomed as India's future wicket-keeper and is likely to fit in the middle-order. If he has to be Dhoni's true successor then he has big shoes to fill.
