England vs India: Rishabh Pant scripts a special record
India's young wicket-keeper batsman, Rishabh Pant, made his Test debut, on Saturday, against England at Nottingham. The talented 20-year-old cricketer replaced Dinesh Karthik. DK, who had a torrid time in the first 2 Tests, injured his finger prior to the match on Saturday. Pant had a decent start to his Test career as he made 24. Notably, he also scripted a special record.
Pant scripts record after hitting first scoring shot for six
The southpaw, who came to bat at number 7, got his first international Test runs by hitting a six. He dispatched spinner Adil Rashid for a straight six to get off the mark. Pant became the first Indian player ever to slam a maximum for scoring his first Test runs. Interestingly, he is only the 12th player to do so in Test cricket.
Pant joins an elite list of names
After scripting the record he has joined the list of elite cricketers. It includes 1) Eric Freeman, 2) Carlisle Best, 3) Keith Dabengwa, 4) Dale Richards, 5) Shafiul Islam, 6) Mark Craig and 7) Dhananjaya de Silva.
