SC adjourns hearing of Pandya, Rahul hearing to next week
The Supreme Court has adjourned the case in relation to Hardik Pandya and KL Rahul to next week. Both the cricketers were earlier suspended after their appearance on the chat show, Koffee With Karan, sparked a controversy. The two players will need to further wait to make a return to cricket. Here is more on the same.
CoA asks the SC to appoint an ombudsman
The Committee of Administrators (CoA) had mentioned before the SC the comments made by the two players on the chat show and the outrage it had caused. The CoA has asked the SC to appoint an ombudsman in order to look at the matter. Senior advocate Gopal Subramanium withdrew himself as an amicus. The two-judge bench then appointed PS Narasimha as his replacement.
Edulji had suggested the need of an ombudsman
The rest of the matter has now been adjourned to the next week. Earlier, Diana Edulji had stated that the Supreme Court should appoint an ombudsman to conduct an investigation on the comments made by the two players.
Pandya, Rahul miss out on action
Pandya and Rahul missed out on the ongoing ODI series between India and Australia. The two cricketers are also set to miss the upcoming ODI series against New Zealand. Vijay Shankar and Shubman Gill were named as their replacements. India face Australia at home ahead of the IPL. Pandya and Rahul will be targeting the same and will hope that the matter gets resolved.
What's the latest situation of Pandya?
Recently, Mumbai-based Khar Gymkhana has revoked Pandya's honorary membership of the club. The membership was given to the cricketer in October 2018. Pandya's father Himanshu told Mid Day that his son hasn't stepped out of the house and is neither attending phone calls. Himanshu also added that his son is disappointed with the suspension.
