Australia beat Pakistan in the first ODI of the three-match series in Lahore on Tuesday. Batting first, the Aussies posted a challenging 313/7 in 50 overs. Travis Head slammed 101. In response, Pakistan were 120/1 at one stage before losing their way (225/10). Babar Azam and Imam-ul-Haq contributed with significant scores but they weren't enough. Pakistan skipper Babar Azam slammed a 72-ball 57. He hit six fours and shared a 96-run stand alongside Imam for the second wicket. Notably, Babar registered his 18th ODI fifty. The stylish Babar has also surpassed the 4,000-run mark. He now has 4,042 runs at 56.92. Babar now has 369 runs versus Australia, hammering his second fifty. He averages 52.71 versus the Aussies.
Second-fastest to 4,000 ODI runs
Babar is now the second-fastest to 4,000 ODI runs. He took 82 innings to reach the milestone. Hashim Amla (81 innings) holds the record for the fastest to the landmark. Babar bettered Viv Richards' record of 88 innings.
Imam slams 103 for PAK
Imam slammed 103 from 96 balls. The southpaw hit six fours and three sixes. Imam has raced to 2,126 runs at 50.61. Imam slammed his eighth ODI century. This was his maiden ODI century versus Australia.
