Babar Azam out of England tour due to a fracture
Pakistan's premier batsman Babar Azam will miss the remainder of the ongoing Test series against England after fracturing his left forearm. The batsman took a blow on his left arm off the bowling of Ben Stokes and was forced to retire hurt. A scan revealed the seriousness of the injury and he could be out of action for 4-6 weeks.
In-form Azam to miss the rest of the series
"Unfortunately, the X-ray confirmed there was a fracture. The fracture's in the forearm, it's one of the two bones in the forearm in the distal third of the arm, just above the wrist. That's why he couldn't hold his bat properly." Pakistan physiotherapist Deacon said.
This is a big blow to Pakistan
Babar Azam was batting on 68* on day 2 of the Lord's Test when the incident occurred. He ended as the top scorer for Pakistan. This comes as a major blow to Pakistan as they have lost their best middle-order batsman. Azam averages 26.78 in 13 Tests. The right-handed batsman might be replaced by either Salahuddin, Zaman or Aslam.
England are in trouble after day 2
Azam's knock helped Pakistan reach 350-8 as they have a lead of 166 on day two. In first innings, England were bundled out for 184 after some brilliant bowling performances by Mohammad Abbas and Hasan Ali. They picked up 4 wickets each. England are now looking to avoid their sixth defeat in 8 Tests, having previously lost the series against Australia and New Zealand.
