Pakistan penalized for slow over-rate in Champions Trophy opener

Pakistan's cricket team has been fined by the International Cricket Council (ICC) for slow over-rate against New Zealand.
The incident took place in the first match of the Champions Trophy, played at Karachi's National Stadium.
The hosts and defending champions lost to New Zealand by 60 runs on Wednesday.

ICC imposes fine on Pakistan for over-rate violation
The ICC has fined Pakistan five percent of their match fee for not maintaining the over-rate target.
The team was one over short after considering time allowances.
The charge was leveled by on-field umpires Richard Kettleborough and Sharfuddoula, third umpire Joel Wilson and fourth umpire Alex Wharf.
Match referee Andy Pycroft imposed the penalty.

Pakistan skipper pleads guilty to over-rate offense
Pakistan's captain Mohammad Rizwan has accepted the charge of slow over-rate and pleaded guilty. His admission did away with a formal hearing.
The penalty was imposed under Article 2.22 of the ICC Code of Conduct for Players and Player Support Personnel, which states a five percent match fee fine per over for teams failing to bowl in the stipulated time.

Fakhar Zaman's injury adds to Pakistan's woes
In yet another setback for Pakistan, batsman Fakhar Zaman has been ruled out of the rest of the tournament due to an injury.
The ICC has approved Imam-ul-Haq as his replacement.
The team will face India in Dubai on Sunday, a match which could very well decide their fate in the tournament.
