Maiden 10-wicket match haul for Abbas
Abbas ends with 17 scalps in the series
Abbas scripted several records after a tremendous show. He picked 7 wickets in the first Test, which Australia managed to draw. This time, a 10/95 means he ended the series with a total of 17 scalps. Abbas overcame Stuart Broad to become the third highest wicket-taker in 2018 in Tests (36). James Anderson (42) and Kagiso Rabada (46) top the list.
Australia slip to fifth in Test rankings
Australia's loss saw them slip to fifth spot in the ICC Test Rankings. The Aussies had lost their previous Test series this year against South Africa as well. Pakistan, on the other hand, remain seventh in the rankings. But the 1-0 win sees them gain seven points to help them close down on Sri Lanka.
Marsh brothers struggle, Sarfraz shines
The Australian duo of Marsh brothers struggled in the Test series. In four innings across the two Tests, Shaun managed scores of 7, 0, 3, 4. His younger brother Mitchell hit 12, 0, 13, 5. Sarfraz Ahmed became the fifth wicket-keeper captain to score 50+ in both innings of a Test. He joined an elite list in the process.
Abbas and his host of records
Abbas is only 10 Tests old, but he has already picked 59 wickets up till now. He tops the list of the best Test match figures since the last decade by a Pakistani pace bowler. Abbas, with his heroics of 10/95 in the ongoing second Test, lies atop. Abbas became the first pacer to take 10 wickets in a Test in UAE.
