Pakistan's Hasan Nawaz joins this club with consecutive ducks: Stats
What's the story
Pakistan cricket team's Hasan Nawaz has made a rather unfortunate entry in the T20I format.
As perWisden, the Pakistan opener has become only the sixth player (full-member nation) to bag two consecutive ducks in their first two T20I innings.
The opener, who was part of a new wave of talent in Pakistan's squad for their New Zealand tour, faced Jacob Duffy twice without scoring.
Debut struggles
Forgettable start for Nawaz
In the first T20I between NZ and Pakistan at Christchurch, Nawaz was dismissed for a two-ball duck off Jacob Duffy's bowling.
The Pakistan team struggled in that match, ending with a total of 91 runs.
Their poor performance continued into the second game in Dunedin on March 18.
Although Pakistan managed to score 135/9 in a curtailed match, they couldn't secure victory.
Nawaz once again fell to Duffy, this time for a three-ball duck.
Record
Nawaz joins Iqbal in unfortunate record
Nawaz's back-to-back ducks have seen him join an elite club with the likes of Matthew Sinclair (New Zealand), Joe Denly (England), Imrul Kayes (Bangladesh), Kyle Jarvis (Zimbabwe), and Arshad Iqbal.
The last one is also a Pakistani cricketer who suffered two back-to-back ducks, on his T20I debut against Bangladesh in 2021 and again at the Asian Games against Hong Kong.
