Most wickets to spinners for Australia in an ODI
Australia won the fifth and final ODI by 49 runs via the DLS method, to overcome England 3-2. Hosts England scored 309/10 in 49.2 overs. In response, Australia were going along at 165/2 in 20.4 overs before rain stopped play. Interestingly, England lost eight wickets to spin in the game. 9/190 vs England, Trent Bridge, 2024
The opener of the recently-concluded series took place in Trent Bridge and England lost nine wickets to spin. Leg-spinners Marnus Labuschagne and Adam Zampa claimed three wickets apiece in the match. Part-time off-spinner Travis Head dismissed two batters. Matthew Short, another off-spinner, also struck once as England were folded for 315 and later lost by seven wickets.
8/98 vs Bangladesh, Old Trafford, 2005
Australia hammered Bangladesh by 10 wickets in the 2005 Old Trafford ODI. Batting first, the Tigers were folded for just 139 thanks to a brilliant five-wicket haul from off-spinner Andrew Symonds. Left-arm spinner Brad Hogg sent back three batters that day. Their combined brilliance meant Bangladesh lost their last eight wickets for just 26 runs.
8/126 vs Pakistan, Lahore, 2022
Chasing 314 in the 2022 Lahore ODI against the Aussies, Pakistan were folded for just 225. Zampa was the pick of the Australian bowlers that day, claiming four crucial wickets. Mitchell Swepson, who also happens to be a leggie, dismissed two batters. Head also took a couple of wickets as Pakistan lost eight wickets to spin.
8/188 vs England, Bristol, 2024
As mentioned above, England lost eight wickets to spin in the recently-concluded Bristol ODI. Head, who was the eighth Australian to deliver in the game, made the most impact by taking four wickets. The likes of Adam Zampa and Glenn Maxwell took two wickets apiece as England were folded for 309. The Aussies later won via the DLS method.
