NZ Women beat India Women in 2nd ODI: Records broken
The New Zealand women's cricket team overcame India in the second ODI on Tuesday to take a 2-0 lead in the five-match series. India's dismal tour of New Zealand ahead of the 2022 Women's World Cup continued. Besides losing the first ODI, India had also surrendered the one-off T20I as well. India Women managed 270/6 before the White Ferns sealed a three-wicket win.
How did the match pan out?
Mitahli Raj scored an unbeaten 66 to help India post 270/6 in 50 overs. Besides Mithali, the 18-year-old Richa Ghosh slammed a 65-run knock. For NZ Women, Sophie Devine claimed figures worth 2/42. In response, Amelia Kerr slammed an unbeaten century (119*) to help her side get past India's target with an over to spare. Maddy Green scored a half-century as well.
Mithali Raj goes past 7,500 ODI runs
For India Women, Mithali scored 66* from 81 balls, hitting three fours. She has become the first woman cricketer to surpass 7,500 runs in ODI cricket. Mithali now has 7,516 runs at 51.83. This was her 61st fifty in ODIs. Against New Zealand Women, the veteran cricketer has 1,123 runs at 46.79. This was her eighth fifty against the White Ferns.
Kerr smashes second ODI century
Kerr hit a superb match-winning century for NZ Women. She slammed seven fours in a 135-ball effort. Kerr got to a second career century in ODIs. Her best score in the 50-over format is 232* versus Ireland Women. She has raced to 838 runs at 34.91. This was her maiden fifty-plus score versus India Women.
Maiden fifty for Richa Ghosh
Playing her fifth ODI, Richa contributed for India with a valiant 65. She She hit six fours and a six. Richa now has 163 runs at 40.75. She slammed her maiden ODI fifty. She shared a 108-run stand alongside Mithali as well.
