With this, Dinesh Karthik's IPL career came to an end. Although Karthik didn't give an official statement, it was earlier reported that the 2024 season will be his last. Karthik featured in inaugural IPL season
Karthik is among only seven players to have featured in every season of the IPL since the inaugural edition in 2008. Mahendra Singh Dhoni, Virat Kohli, Rohit Sharma, Shikhar Dhawan, Wriddhiman Saha, and Manish Pandey are the others on this elite list. As per ESPNcricinfo, Karthik has missed just two matches in 17 seasons. He debuted with Delhi Daredevils (now Delhi Capitals).
Karthik played for six franchises
Karthik represented RCB across stints in the IPL. He represented the Challengers in the 2015 competition as well. The Indian wicketkeeper-batter has been a part total six IPL teams - Delhi Capitals (2008-2010, 2014), Kings XI Punjab (now Punjab Kings: 2011), Mumbai Indians (2012-2013), Gujarat Lions (2016-2017), Knight Riders (2018-2021), and RCB (2015, 2022-2024).

Karthik played 257 matches in his IPL career, the joint second-most by a player with Rohit. The duo is only behind Dhoni, who has been a part of 264 IPL games. Karthik finishes with 4,842 runs, presently the 10th-most in the IPL. He has 22 half-centuries to his name. The Indian batter maintained a strike-rate of 135.36 in his career.
Second-most wins as captain for KKR
Karthik led KKR in 37 matches between 2018 and 2020. He notched up 19 wins, the second-most as a KKR skipper after Gautam Gambhir (61). Shreyas Iyer, who recently led KKR to the final, is just behind Karthik with 16 wins.
Over 100 wicket-keeping dismissals
Karthik is one of only three players with over 100 wicket-keeping dismissals in the IPL. He has the second-most dismissals in this regard (174), only behind Dhoni (190). Karthik remains the only player other than Dhoni to have affected over 35 stumpings in the tournament. The former has 37 stumpings compared to Dhoni's 42. Robin Uthappa follows Karthik with 32 stumpings.
Other notable feats of Karthik
Karthik is one of only two players to have returned unbeaten in an IPL innings 50+ times (among batters with over 4,000 runs). Karthik and Dhoni are the only two players to have scored over 4,000 IPL runs as designated wicket-keepers. Karthik has the third-most runs in death overs in the IPL - 1,565 runs at an incredible strike rate of 186.97.
