I haven't received any money from Mumbai Indians: Sachin Tendulkar
Sachin Tendulkar has been an integral part of Mumbai Indians, ever since the inception of IPL. However, post his retirement, he has also been a member of the Cricket Advisory Committee. In the same light, the BCCI Ombudsman had served a notice to Tendulkar for an alleged conflict of interest due to his involvement with MI. Today, Tendulkar refuted all these charges. Here's more.
Tendulkar and Laxman had been served a notice by Ombudsman
It all started when Tendulkar was noticed, while sitting in MI's dugout during the ongoing IPL. Notably, the same was true for VVS Laxman. He is a part of the management of Sunrisers Hyderabad. As both of these legends are also members of the BCCI's CAC, they were served a notice by the Ombudsman over a possible conflict of interest.
Tendulkar refutes conflict of interest allegations
Three days following the notice, Tendulkar has categorically refuted the conflict of interest allegations made by the Ombudsman and Ethics Officer Justice (Retd.) DK Jain. Tendulkar said that he has neither received any compensation from MI, nor he has been involved in any decision making of the franchise. Tendulkar made a 14-point disclosure of his role with the franchise in reply to the notice.
Tendulkar denies the conflict of interest allegations
"At the outset, the Noticee [Tendulkar] denies the contents of the Complaint in totality [except the statements specifically admitted herein]. No part of the Complaint should be deemed to be admitted by the Noticee for lack of specific denials," Tendulkar wrote in reply to Ombudsman.
Tendulkar says he is just a mentor
In his reply, Tendulkar said he was appointed a member of the CAC in 2015, while he was named the ICON for MI prior to it. As per him, as the ICON, he is in no way involved with governance. "Accordingly, the BCCI aware of the Noticee's association with the Mumbai Indians Franchise at the time of his appointment to the CAC," Tendulkar wrote.
I am not part of management, says Tendulkar
Tendulkar further cleared the air by stating that he is just a mentor for the franchise and he cannot be considered as a part of the management. "His role is limited to providing guidance to the franchise team by sharing his insights, learnings and working closely with the younger members in the team to help them realize their true potential," the reply further stated.
