#GamingBytes: Pokemon Go-like game featuring Harry Potter released

    What's the story

Harry Potter: Wizards Unite takes the gameplay of Pokemon Go and adds to it the charm of Potter-verse, creating a game that'll appeal to ardent and casual Harry Potter fans alike.

From Wizarding World, WB Games, and Niantic, the game has some pretty impressive AR features alongside spells, dementors, and popular Harry Potter characters.

Here's all we know about the newly released mobile game.

    Premise

What is 'Harry Potter: Wizards Unite' all about?

The free-to-play, location-based AR title combines the wizarding world with ours.

Here's the basic premise: an event called the "Calamity" could lead to the Wizarding World being exposed to Muggles.

In order to stop the violation of the Statute of Secrecy, wizards and witches need to search for magic "Foundables" scattered everywhere, break the "Confoundable Spells" on them and collect them using various spells.

    Gameplay

So how do you play the game?

It's quite simple actually. All you need to do is install the game on your smartphone, log in using your email (or social media credentials) and set out for an adventure.

The game has a nice tutorial and practically guides you through every move.

You also meet the older versions of the 'Gryffindor trio' and fan favorites including Sirius Black and Hagrid.

    Release Date

When is the game releasing in India?

Harry Potter: Wizards Unite has already released in the US and UK but its India release isn't yet announced.

At the time of writing, the Play Store was only showing the option to pre-register for the game.

It seems that we'll have to wait for some time before we can choose our house, wand, and profession and save the wizarding world from crumbling.

    Promising

Appears to be a promising title

The game uses augmented reality to its fullest, letting you interact with some interesting characters from the wizarding world.

You have to create an in-game avatar based on geographical location. The more you play, the stronger you get; and the more spells you learn, the faster you can level up.

This one seems to be a promising game with plenty of stuff to offer.

    Pokemon Go Returns?

In other news, a new Pokémon game is under development

While there's no significant information about this upcoming title, rumor has it that Japanese mobile group DeNA is working on a new Pokémon game, slated to release next year.

The game will be released in collaboration with The Pokémon Company (the official licensing and marketing company of the franchise).

We expect the game to focus on real-world exploration, character matchmaking, and Pokémon training.
