Neymar suffers fractured metatarsal, ruled out of clash against Madrid
PSG's Champions League's hopes have been dealt a major blow, after recent reports revealed that star man, Neymar Jr is set to miss the last 16 second leg tie against Real Madrid. The 26-year-old Brazilian has been diagnosed with a fractured metatarsal and a sprained ankle and is unlikely to recover in time for the high octane fixture.
Neymar has a crack in his foot bone
Neymar Jr was injured during Sunday's Ligue 1 encounter with Marseille, which the Paris outfit won comfortably with goals from Edinson Cavani and Kylian Mbappe. Neymar had to be stretchered off the field 11 minutes from time after spraining his ankle. The victory took PSG 14 points clear of second-placed Monaco in the Ligue 1.
Neymar has been PSG's mercurial frontman
Neymar signed for PSG in a world record £200 million transfer from Barcelona last August and has scored 28 goals in 30 games and has also provided 16 assists for PSG this season.
Neymar unlikely to recover in time for Real Madrid clash
PSG will host Real Madrid on March 6 in the second leg of Champions League and will look to overturn the 3-1 deficit from the first leg. The French Giants have never reached the Champions League final since their takeover by Qatar Sports Investments. They lost the last 16 stage last season to Barcelona where Neymar inspired a 6-1 rout.
Neymar could face 2 months on the sidelines
It hasn't been made clear when will Neymar return to full fitness. Metatarsal injuries take about 6 weeks to heal and it could take Neymar at least 2 months to recover. With the World Cup on the cards, Neymar shouldn't be rushed into action.
