Will Neymar be able to play against Costa Rica?
Brazil fans are anxious to know the situation of superstar Neymar, after he suffered 'minor' injury and missed training on Tuesday. The latest injury has raised concerns about his fitness. He is racing against time to get fit for the game against Costa Rica on Friday. Brazil were held to a draw by Switzerland in their opening match of 2018 World Cup. Here's more!
Neymar limps off the pitch
On Tuesday, the Brazilian ace was in the practise session for just 15 minutes before hobbling off the pitch. But the positive news for Neymar and Brazil is that he did not suffer the injury on his recently recovered foot. The player limped off the pitch to the dressing room post the session in Sochi. He felt soreness while jogging.
There is hope of Neymar returning to training
Team doctor Rodrigo Lasmar stated that the player will be undergoing physiotherapy to get fit for the next training session. He said that one needs to calm down as they are hopeful of Neymar being fit by Friday for their second encounter. Neymar is believed to have sustained the injury in the game against Switzerland, where he was fouled 10 times.
A lot rides on Neymar
Brazil were held to a 1-1 draw by Switzerland in the opening game despite Philippe Coutinho scoring a thriller to give the side a lead. Neymar did not have much impact in the game and the Swiss did an able job to keep him quiet. But on Friday, Brazil need him more than ever to guide the side past Costa Rica.
Neymar will hope to show his worth
Although Brazil have a squad filled with superstars, Neymar gives the side an added advantage. He has 55 goals in 86 appearances for Brazil which shows his enormous calibre. In 2014 World Cup, Neymar was phenomenal for Brazil. He was their leading goal-scorer (4).
