Neymar, Mbappe injured ahead of PSG's massive clash against Liverpool
Paris Saint-Germain suffered a huge blow after their top two performers, Neymar Jr. and Mbappe'>Kylian Mbappe sustained injuries during international friendlies last night. Neymar suffered a groin injury during Brazil's friendly against Cameroon and Mbappe injured his shoulder in France's clash with Uruguay last night. PSG have their Champions League encounter against Liverpool in eight days. Are they in deep trouble?
Details of the injuries of both players
Neymar suffered his injury when he was trying to lift a cross, and was replaced by Richarlison. On the other hand, Mbappe fell down heavily while trying to avoid a clash against the Uruguayan goal-keeper, Martín Campaña. At half-time, France coach Deschamps said, "He will have to see after with the medical staff. I hope it's not bad."
Both matches had similar results
While Brazil and France were both expected to dominate their matches last night, such was not the case. Both teams managed to salvage their matches with the exact same scoreline of 1-0, with Richarlison scoring for Brazil, and Giroud helping the world champions register their victory via a spot-kick. Giroud has now become France's fourth highest goal-scorer, with 33 strikes to his name.
PSG's match against Liverpool will be vital
PSG haven't been able to replicate their immaculate Ligue 1 form in the Champions League, as they are currently third in the group after four matches. PSG are on five points while both Napoli and Liverpool are on six points each. Tuchel and his boys must win against Liverpool, but it will be difficult without the two pillars of their attack, Neymar and Mbappe.
