Under-19 World Cup 2020: NewsBytes XI
The Bangladesh cricket team scripted history after winning their maiden Under-19 World Cup title. They defeated India by three wickets (DLS method) in the low-scoring encounter at Potchefstroom. Batting first India were bundled out 177 even after a half-century by Yashaswi Jaiswal (121-ball 88). Akbar Ali's brilliant 43 off 77 balls brought Bangladesh home. Dream tournament for Yashaswi Jaiswal
With 400 runs in six matches, Yashaswi Jaiswal became the second Indian batsman to score 400 or more runs in a single edition after Shikhar Dhawan (505 in 2004). He opens the innings alongside Ibrahim Zadran who scored 240 runs from five matches. Ravindu Rasantha is at number three, followed by Milton Shumba and Bryce Parsons at number four and five respectively.
Akbar Ali makes the cut
Bangladesh skipper Akbar Ali showed resilience in the all-important World Cup final to seal the victory. The right-handed didn't get many opportunities throughout as he scored 69 runs in four innings with the final's 43* being his highest score. Besides, he also took five catches and affected a stumping to emerge as a standout wicket-keeper of the tournament.
Wheeler-Greenall and Akhil Kumar are the front runners
Beckham Wheeler-Greenall braced up New Zealand's middle order in the tournament. He scored 186 runs in five matches for the Black Caps. His unbeaten 75 redeemed some pride against Bangladesh in the semi-final. The third-highest wicket-taker of the tournament Akhil Kumar is the second all-rounder. He scored 121 runs in five games besides taking 16 wickets.
Kartik Tyagi leads the bowling attack
With three four-wicket hauls in the tournament, Ravi Bishnoi was the highest wicket-taker of the tournament. The 19-year-old leg-spinner disarrayed Bangladesh in the final as well. He is joined by Rakibul Hasan who scalped 12 wickets for Bangladesh in the tournament. India's Kartik Tyagi who disarrayed Australia in the knock-out is the pace spearhead in the team.
