New Zealand completed a 5-0 series whitewash of Pakistan, defeating the visitors by 15 runs in the fifth and final match of the ODI series in Wellington. This is only the second time, New Zealand have whitewashed an opposition in a five-match series, in their history. Here we look at the major statistics from the series.
12-match winning streak for the Black Caps
The 5th ODI win extends New Zealand's winning streak in all formats to 12 matches. Their last loss was to India in November 2017. They, however, are unbeaten at home since March 2017.
Only third time, Pakistan have lost an ODI series 5-0
This is only the third time that Pakistan have lost an ODI series by 5-0 margin. The other two times they were clean swept by such a margin was in 1988 by West Indies, and in 2010 by Australia. On the other hand, the only other time New Zealand won an ODI series 5-0 was against the visiting West Indies side in 2010.
Lowest total for Pakistan in 25 years
Pakistan's ODI score of 74 in 3rd ODI against NZ is their lowest total in 25 years. It is also their third joint-lowest total ever, alongside the same total against England in 1992. 43 was their lowest ever and came against West Indies in 1993.
Martin Guptill, player of the series
Having scored 310 runs in the series for the home side, Martin Guptill has been named "Player of the Series." During the series, he accumulated his 13th ODI century, though his first against Pakistan. Guptill is now among a small group of players, ninth to be exact, to have scored ODI hundreds against each of the other 9 full member nations of the ICC.
