The Day 2 of the second Test between New Zealand and England belonged to the English bowlers as they orchestrated the Kiwi collapse. The Black Caps are reeling at 192/6 at stumps after having bowled out England for 307 runs. The situation for Kiwis would have been worse had not BJ Watling (77*) and Colin de Grandhomme (72) steadied the ship.
Anderson, Broad chip in once again
English senior bowler Stuart Broad showed his mettle after picking 4/38 in 16 overs. He was well supported by James Anderson (2/43). The pace duo had reduced New Zealand to 36/5 in a breathtaking bowling performance. England's top two wicket-takers in Tests set a milestone of opening the bowling in the format for the 150th time. They bowled fuller and found the movement.
Kiwis frustrate England after solidity in middle
At 36/5, New Zealand were on the mat, but the duo of Watling and Grandhomme batted beautifully under the circumstances and made sure their side avoided a total collapse. The duo added 142 runs for the sixth wicket that ensued NZ stay in the game. Both batsmen put a price on their wickets and consumed deliveries to take the steam out of the attack.
