New Zealand to tour Scotland in July: Details here
The New Zealand cricket team will be touring Scotland in the month of July this year. There will be two T20Is and an ODI. The white-ball series will be played at Grange in Edinburgh on July 27, 29 and 31 respectively. The last time these two sides met was during the ICC T20 World Cup last year. Here are the key details.
Both teams' coaches excited for the series
"We are excited to welcome the BLACKCAPS to our shores this summer. We want to keep challenging ourselves versus ICC Full Members and New Zealand are up there as one of the best," Scotland head coach Shane Burger said. Meanwhile, NZ coach Gary Stead called it a great occasion for his side to visit the European nation for the white-ball series.
Why does this story matter?
Of late, Scotland have showed spirit and character versus the Kiwis. The previous match in the T20 World Cup in the UAE showed the same. Scotland did come close in the game but the Kiwis held their fort. These three matches will test the Scottish players and it will be a matter of pride. They would want to showcase their strengths.
Key details about the two teams
New Zealand drew both Test series at home recently, drawing 1-1 versus Bangladesh and then South Africa. They are currently involved in a white-ball series versus the Netherlands. The one-off T20I was abandoned without a ball being bowled. The attention will now shift towards the three-match ODI series. Meanwhile, Scotland will be involved in the one-off tournament in April, involving PNG and Oman.
A look at the H2H record
New Zealand have never lost against Scotland so far across formats. The two teams have faced each other three times in ODIs, with the Kiwis enjoying a 3-0 lead. Meanwhile, they have played two T20I matches. The Kiwis have pocketed both games.
