Match details
How did the Test match pan out?
The Indian middle-order yet again stumbled as New Zealand skipper Kane Williamson put India into bat.
Fifties from Prithvi Shaw, Cheteshwar Pujara and Hanuma Vihari guided India to 242.
The visitors took a slender 7-run lead as the Kiwis were bundled out for 235.
India could only muster 124 in the second innings.
New Zealand chased a nominal 132-run target with ease.

India lost in SA, England and NZ under Kohli
Having lost the Test series to New Zealand, India have concluded their SENA country-leg under Virat Kohli which started back in 2018.
The Kohli-led Team India started off with two defeats in the 2018 South African tour, but gained redemption in the famous Cape Town Test.
After losing 1-4 to England, they scripted history by defeating Australia 2-1 on their own soil.
Dismal Kohli
Kohli was unable to get the better of Kiwi bowlers
The ghosts of the 2014 England tour came back as Virat Kohli looked jeopardized against New Zealand across formats.
Kohli's score in the New Zealand tour read as- 45, 11, 38, 11, 51, 15, 9, 19, 2, 14, and 3.
This is only the second time when he hasn't cross the 20-run mark even once in a Test series (2 or more Tests).
Information
An unwanted record for the dejected Kohli
Virat Kohli's tally of 218 runs from 11 innings in New Zealand is the lowest he has managed on a tour wherein he has played all three formats. He averaged 9.50 in the Test series, which is his second lowest at home and lowest overseas.

India have won one Test in New Zealand since 1976
India haven't registered a single Test victory in New Zealand since 2009 wherein the MS Dhoni-led side hammered them at Hamilton.
Under Kohli, India were routed in the ODI and Test series after winning the T20I series 5-0.
Interestingly, a similar pattern was followed in the 2018 England tour.
India won the T20I series 2-1 before losing the ODI (1-2) and Test series (1-4).
