Global T20 league returns after a year
The South African board couldn't organize the Global T20 league, last year. This, in turn, hurt Cricket South Africa, which had to pay compensation packages to 144 contracted players. An estimated $14 million was lost by the board. Now the board is set to host the first edition of the tournament in 2018. The venues will be decided via a bidding process.
All you need to know about the new league
Each team will have 16 players in their squad with a maximum of 4 foreigners. South African players, who have signed Kolpak contracts in England, will be treated as foreigners. The six-team tournament will have 30 league matches, followed by an eliminator and a final. October 2 is the last day for player registration. The draft will be held on October 17.
