Game not won unless MS Dhoni gets out: Jimmy Neesham
MS Dhoni is respected and admired by opposition team players around the world and New Zealand cricketer Jimmy Neesham has gone on to praise the former Indian skipper. The all-rounder has highlighted the importance of Dhoni in this Indian batting line-up. Dhoni missed the last two matches against New Zealand, but is set to return for the fifth ODI on Sunday. Here's more.
MS Dhoni showed his class against the Aussies last month
MSD struggled with the bat in 2018 as he scored only 275 runs in 20 innings. He recorded the worst average and strike-rate in his 12-year-long career. Dhoni, who did not play much prior to the series against Australia, scored 51, 55* and 87* in the three matches. He helped India win the series with match-winning knocks in Adelaide and Melbourne.
Neesham heaps praise on match-winner Dhoni
"His record speaks for itself. He is a fantastic player. I know there were some noises in the Indian media if he should be in the World Cup squad or not. He has got that calm demeanour in the middle-order. When you are bowling to him, you know you have not got the game won until you get him out," said Neesham on Saturday.
Dhoni is still a champion player despite criticisms
Dhoni was criticized last year for not living up to the billing and several fans, media houses and pundits questioned his place in the team. Indian fans in England booed him during the ODI series back in July 2018. Many felt that Dhoni should not be considered for the Cricket World Cup squad. But his recent form shows he is still a champion player.
Dhoni is India's best bet going into the World Cup
Dhoni is India's best bet in the middle order. He is the pillar of this side. The veteran adds so much both as a batsman and from behind the stumps as well. Players in the team have constantly highlighted his importance.
