The triumphant performance Team India athletes at the 2024 Paris Olympics has significantly boosted their brand value. Star Javelin thrower Neeraj Chopra and shooter Manu Bhaker, who bagged medals in Paris, are witnessing the most substantial increase in their brand worth. As per an NDTV report, Chopra's brand value is set to go past the ₹330 crore-mark. He won the silver medal for India at the Paris Games.
Chopra's brand value set to surpass many cricketers
According to data from financial advisory firm Kroll, Chopra's brand valuation is projected to rise from $29.6 million (around ₹220 crore) to over $40 million (approximately ₹330 crore). Prior to the Olympics, his brand worth was on par with Indian all-rounder Hardik Pandya. However, post-Olympics success is expected to propel him ahead of Pandya and other cricketers in terms of brand value.
Bhaker secures lucrative endorsement deal post-Olympics
Bhaker, the 22-year-old shooting prodigy, has recently inked a lucrative brand endorsement contract worth ₹1.5 crore with popular soft drink brand Thums Up. This is a significant increase from her pre-Olympics endorsement fee of around ₹25 lakh per deal annually. The IOS Sports and Entertainment, which manages Bhaker, has disclosed (to Times of India) that approximately 40 brands had expressed interest in signing deals with her.
Chopra, Bhaker bagged these records in Paris
Both Bhaker and Chopra had successful performances at the Paris Games. Bhaker won two bronze medals in different shooting events, becoming the first Indian woman to win multiple medals in a single edition of the Olympics. Meanwhile, Chopra followed up his Tokyo Olympics gold medal with a silver in Paris, making him the first Indian athlete to win two Olympic medals in track and field.
Phogat's endorsement fee rises despite no medal win
Wrestler Vinesh Phogat, despite not securing a medal at the Paris Games, was arguably one of India's top performers. Like Bhaker, Phogat's endorsement fee has also seen a significant rise from ₹25 lakh per deal annually to around ₹1 crore. Phogat became the first Indian woman wrestler to make it to an Olympic final, however, it turned into heartbreak as she failed to make the weight for her 50 kg gold-medal bout.
