Neeraj Chopra's brand portfolio to grow by 50% this year
Neeraj Chopra, India's javelin throw champion, is reportedly set to see a significant increase in his endorsement portfolio this year. After securing silver at the recent Paris Olympics, the 26-year-old athlete's brand endorsements are projected to grow by approximately 50%. His current portfolio includes international brands like American sportswear company Under Armour and Swiss luxury watchmaker Omega.
Chopra's portfolio surpasses top cricketers
Divyanshu Singh, COO of JSW Sports, which manages Chopra's portfolio, revealed that they are currently in discussions with six to eight brands for endorsement deals. This could potentially make Chopra the highest-earning sportsperson outside cricket. His endorsement portfolio is expected to expand from 24 to 32-34 brands by year-end, surpassing several leading cricketers including former Indian men T20I captain Hardik Pandya who endorses 20 brands.
Chopra's brand value and endorsement fee on the rise
Chopra's brand value is also on an upward trajectory. Last year, it was estimated at $29.6M, placing him 21st in the list of most valuable celebrities as per Kroll's analysis. Singh anticipates a further increase in Chopra's brand value by 40 to 50%. Additionally, his endorsement fee has seen a similar jump from around ₹3 crore per year to an estimated ₹4-4.5 crore annually.
Chopra's endorsement strategy and brand mix
Singh emphasized that all of Chopra's endorsements are long-term deals, typically spanning two to three years. This strategy reflects his youth and impressive track record, including two Olympic medals. His portfolio comprises both global and luxury brands like Omega, Gillette, Samsung, and Visa. However, JSW Sports maintains a selective approach toward the products he endorses.
