    What's the story

    Bangladesh skipper Najmul Hossain Shanto slammed an impressive 76-run knock versus Afghanistan in the 2nd ODI on Saturday held at Sharjah Cricket Stadium, Sharjah.

    Shanto walked in when his side was 28/1 and he shared a solid 71-run stand alongside Soumya Sarkar (35) for the 2nd wicket.

    Another 53-run stand followed alongside Mehidy Hasan Miraz (22).

    Shanto eventually perished, reducing Bangladesh to 183/5.

    Knock

    Shanto works hard before losing his way

    Shanto got to his fifty with a tight single in the 28th over from 74 balls.

    It was a knock of hard work and character against the Afghan bowlers.

    Shanto held his fort but a poor shot ended his stay especially when he wanted to accelerate.

    He danced down the track to loft Nangeyalia Kharote and ended up slicing the ball to long-off.

    Runs

    Shanto smashes his ninth fifty in ODIs

    Shanto's gritty effort saw him face 119 balls for his 76. He slammed six fours and a six.

    Playing his 47th ODI, Shanto has raced to 1,488 runs at an average of 34.60. In addition to three tons, he has nine fifties.

    As per ESPNcricinfo, in nine matches versus Afghanistan, Shanton owns 323 runs at 40.37. He has one century and two fifties.
