Bangladesh captain confident ahead of Test series vs India
Bangladesh cricket team captain Najmul Hossain Shanto has expressed confidence in his team's ability to perform well in the upcoming Test series against India and South Africa. This statement comes on the heels of their historic victory over Pakistan. The triumphant team returned home yesterday after securing their first-ever Test series win against Pakistan. Preparations for the two-match away Test series against India are set to commence on September 8.
Najmul emphasizes on team's morale and strategy
Najmul emphasized the importance of team morale and strategic planning in their upcoming matches. He stated, "Every cricketer will gain confidence from such a series win. The team's morale will be boosted." He acknowledged that the series against India will be challenging, necessitating a new plan. "If we give our best performance, we can achieve good results," he added during a press interaction at Hazrat Shah Jalal International Airport upon his arrival from Pakistan.
Najmul credits coach for clear plans
Despite speculation about head coach Chandika Hathurusingha's future, Najmul praised him for providing clear plans that helped the team perform well on the field. "Very good, I think the players are really clear with the coach and he was really supportive and gave proper plans to every player," said Najmul. He also highlighted the positive atmosphere in the dressing room under Hathurusingha's guidance.
Team to be honored by interim government
The victorious team is set to be honored by Chief Advisor of Bangladesh's interim government, Professor Muhammad Yunus. However, Shakib Al Hasan will not be present at the event as he has traveled directly to England from Pakistan for County Cricket. Najmul assured that the players support Shakib and will convey this message to the Chief Advisor if necessary during the reception.
Najmul praises Miraz for exceptional performance
Najmul also praised Mehidy Hasan Miraz for his outstanding contribution to Bangladesh's historic Test series win against Pakistan. Miraz scored 155 runs and took 10 wickets, significantly contributing to the team's success. This victory is Bangladesh's first-ever Test series win against Pakistan, propelling them to fourth place in the ICC World Test Championship standings.
