Can Bangladesh's rising star Nahid Rana outclass Indian batters?
Nahid Rana, a promising young fast bowler from Bangladesh, is preparing for the upcoming Test series against India. The 21-year-old cricketer has gained recognition for his impressive performance in Bangladesh's historic 2-0 victory over Pakistan. Rana consistently delivered speeds of up to 150kph during the series. He could now disarray the Indian batting line-up studded with veterans like Rohit Sharma and Virat Kohli.
Rana's confidence ahead of India series
Rana expressed his readiness for the upcoming series against India in a video shared by Bangladesh Cricket on 'X.' "Obviously we are well prepared for India series. We have started training. The more we are prepared the better we will be in execution during the matches," he stated. Despite acknowledging that India is a strong team, Rana remains confident about his team's chances, asserting that "the team that plays better cricket will win."
Rana's remarkable journey in cricket
Rana, hailing from Chapainawabganj, has become a sensation in Bangladesh cricket due to his ability to consistently deliver fast balls over extended periods. He first made headlines by exceeding the 150kph-mark in his debut Test against Sri Lanka earlier this year. In Pakistan, he further perturbed the batters by taking six wickets in two matches.
A look at his stats
Rana, who made his First-Class debut in 2021, has now raced to 74 scalps across 18 games, averaging an impressive 24-plus. The tally includes three fifers and six four-wicket hauls. He also owns 11 List A scalps at 16.46 and four T20 wickets at 42.50. Notably, the pacer narrowly missed a berth in Bangladesh's 2022 ICC Under-19 World Cup squad.
