Rafael Nadal beats Kevin Anderson to win 16th Grand Slam
Rafael Nadal defeated South Africa's Kevin Anderson to win his third US Open and 16th Grand Slam title in a one-sided affair in New York on Sunday. The Spaniard cruised to a 6-3, 6-3, 6-4 victory over first-time major finalist Anderson. Having won the French Open earlier, Nadal has now won two Slams in the same year for the first time since 2013.
Nadal has now 16 Grand Slams to his win
With today's win, Nadal has now won 16 Grand Slams. He has 10 French Open titles, 3 US Open, 2 Wimbledon Championships and 1 Australian Open to his name.
Nadal dominant throughout final
Going into the final, Nadal had a 4-0 head-to-head record against Anderson, and he dominated him once again. He lost only 15 points on serve and did not face a break point in the entire match. The result means this year's major titles got shared between Nadal and Federer, who remains at the top of the men's all-time Grand Slam list with 19 titles.
Nadal thanks his uncle after the win
Nadal said about his uncle Toni "Since the beginning of the season it has been very, very emotional. I can't thank him enough for all the things he did for me. Probably without him, I would never be playing tennis."
