Tennis: Rafa Nadal claims his body needed rest
'King of Clay' Rafael Nadal may be high on confidence after winning his record 11th French Open crown this season, but the 32-year-old Spaniard is heading into Wimbledon with 'less preparation'. While speaking to El Espanol, Nadal claimed that his body needed rest and that is why he skipped a few tournaments ahead of the third Grand Slam. 2018 Wimbledon starts on July 2.
Nadal says body needed rest after a hectic clay season
"I had a very intense campaign on clay and my body needed rest because drastic changes are not good I had to spend time adapting physically and in my tennis to the surface. I will certainly arrive at Wimbledon with less preparation," Nadal said.
Nadal to step up preparations from next week
Nadal might not have been playing competitive tennis for a while but has been training in his hometown Mallorca. He is expected to step up his preparations. He will travel to London on Monday to get himself ready to challenge Roger Federer for the Wimbledon title and the number one ranking. Interestingly, the last six Slams have been won either by Federer or Nadal.
