World number two and King of Clay Rafael Nadal played flawless tennis to tame 20-time Grand Slam champion Roger Federer in the semis of the French Open 2019 at Roland Garros in Paris on Friday. With this win, Nadal scripted a number of feats, while he reached his 12th final of the tournament. Here are the records scripted in this tie.
How did the match pan out?
Since the start, Nadal played aggressively. While Nadal broke Federer early on in the set, the latter could hardly fight back as the former claimed the opening set 6-3. It was followed by a tough contest in the second, only for Nadal to break in the closing stages to win it 6-4. The third set was again a one-sided tie as Nadal won 6-2.

Today Nadal registered his sixth consecutive win over Federer at Roland Garros. While both have had a go at each other, with Federer triumphing on a number of occasions on other surfaces, clay is the only platform, especially at Roland Garros, where Nadal has always reigned supreme. With this win, he also snapped his past five-match losing streak against him.

While this is their second semi-final meeting at Roland Garros, Federer has scripted another unique record. To date, he leads 112-13 all the left-handed players in his career, barring Nadal. However, when it comes against Nadal, he is trailing 15-24.
