Born on September 8, 1990, Murugan Ashwin is an Indian right-handed batsman and right-arm leg-spin bowler who represents Tamil Nadu in domestic cricket. He made his debut in List A matches in 2015 in Vijay Hazare Trophy, and as of 2021, has played 22 List A matches. He has also played in the 2015-2016 Syed Mushtaq Ali Trophy. Ashwin made his Indian Premier League (IPL) debut in 2016 with Rising Pune Supergiant. In 2017 he was bought by Delhi Daredevils, and in 2018 by the Royal Challengers Bangalore. For 2019, and 2020-2021 editions of the IPL he has been associated with the Kings XI Punjab. Between 2016 and 2021, Ashwin has played 34 IPL matches and has maintained a bowling average of 33.88.
