Tendulkar feels Dhoni's inputs to Kohli will help India
MS Dhoni's influence in the Indian cricket team is huge and with the ICC World Cup 2019 approaching, the importance of the former captain gets more relevant. Over time, we witnessed both Virat Kohli and stand-in skipper Rohit Sharma seeking help from the veteran MSD. Sachin Tendulkar feels MSD's inputs will be critical. Here's more.
India lucky to have someone like MSD in the side
The Indian cricket team is pretty lucky to have MSD in the ranks. The wicket-keeper batsman is playing his fourth World Cup and there is a lot of experience under his belt. Dhoni is the commander when it comes to ODIs and his contributions will be immense. He is vocal behind the stumps and understands the game more than anybody else.
Having MSD behind the stumps is a bonus: Tendulkar
"Talking about Dhoni, his experience of standing behind the stumps is going to help because that is possibly the best view anyone could ask for. Whatever be the situation, he will share it with the captain as well as the bowler. So, having someone that experienced standing behind the stumps is always a bonus," said Tendulkar about Dhoni.
Dhoni is a constant guiding factor for the spinners
Dhoni is excellent when the spinners are bowling and that's a prime reason for both Kuldeep Yadav and Yuzvendra Chahal getting enormous success. Recently, Chahal lauded MSD and highlighted his importance in the side. "Whatever happens, you need Mahi bhai. We still obey what he says. He intervenes when we go wrong," Chahal said in an interview to Cricbuzz.
Dhoni is respected immensely in the Indian team
Both Dhoni and Kohli share a close bond on and off the field. Former captain Dhoni has never shied away from guiding the team on the field. There is a lot of respect for the veteran and he often calls the shots till now.
Dhoni could help India by using all his experience
Dhoni has been tremendous for Indian cricket and one expects to see him use all his experience in the 2019 World Cup. He will be influential in helping the bowlers to extract the maximum from the conditions that can assist both swing and batting. Dhoni has amassed 314 catches and 120 stumpings in his ODI career. His achievements speak for himself.
