MS Dhoni leaves Chennai as practice sessions get mowed down
Chennai Super Kings skipper Mahendra Singh Dhoni featured in the final practice session and left the city soon thereafter. Reportedly, CSK's practice sessions were suspended from March in wake of the coronavirus outbreak. In a video tweeted by CSK, Dhoni was seen greeting a number of officials on field a bunch of fans before leaving. Here is the tweet.

The entire nation awaited Dhoni's return in the yellows before the announcement regarding the postponement dropped in. The 38-year-old was seen recently seen practicing in quite a few drills as a lead-up to the tournament. He received an electrifying welcome in CSK's first practice session at the MA Chidambaram Stadium this month. He treated his fans with mighty blows during the training session.
The upcoming IPL edition has been postponed
The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) on Saturday discussed the option of conducting a curtailed Indian Premier League (IPL) 2020 with the eight franchise owners. The coronavirus outbreak led to the IPL 13 season get postponed from March 29 to April 15. "We met the owners to tell them how it can happen. it is just postponed presently," Sourav Ganguly said.
It was decided that IPL will be held without spectators
Initially, it was stated that overseas players will only be available post April 15 as the Indian government had cancelled all visas, except for a few official categories. India's Minister of State for Youth Affairs and Sports Kiren Rijiju said that fans are likely not to be allowed at the grounds. It was also decided that the IPL will be played behind closed doors.
Dhoni is yet to play for India since July 2019
Dhoni hasn't played competitive cricket since India's semi-final exit in the World Cup 2019. He was also removed from the list of centrally contracted players recently amid speculations about his retirement from international cricket. The upcoming IPL edition was deemed as Dhoni's mini audition to determine if he will be in contention for the ICC T20 World Cup in Australia.
