ICC Test Rankings: Jadeja, Pujara grab best spots
In the latest rankings released by International Cricket Council, Ravindra Jadeja has surpassed Ravichandran Ashwin to become the number one test bowler. Indian batsman Cheteshwar Pujara rose four spots up to be ranked second among the batsmen. This is his career-best ranking. Bangladesh's Shakib Al Hasan has displaced Ashwin to become the number one all rounder after his performance against Sri Lanka.
Jadeja's performance this season
Ravindra Jadeja took 14 wickets in three tests against New Zealand, 26 wickets against England in three tests and 21 wickets in three test matches in the ongoing series against Australia. With 899 points, Jadeja has a chance to touch the 900-mark and become the only second Indian bowler after Ravichandran Ashwin to do so. Ashwin had the highest rating of 904.
Jadeja third Indian to top test bowling charts
After becoming the number one bowler in tests, Ravindra Jadeja became the third Indian bowler to top the charts after Ravichandran Ashwin and Bishan Singh Bedi.
Pujara's batting record in the recent series
In the 2016-17 home season, Cheteshwar Pujara has scored 1122 runs, three hundreds and one double hundred. Pujara has scored a century in each of the three series against New Zealand, England and Australia. He replaced New Zealand's Kane Williamson to reach his career best second ranking. He has 861 rating points, but is way behind top player Steven Smith, who has 941 points.
India assured of number one spot and $1 million award
India will remain on the top spot ahead of the cut-off date of 1 April. Currently, India has 121 rating points, 12 points ahead of second placed Australia. India will also be awarded with a cash prize of $1 million.
